Your car may still be in good running condition, safe and fuel efficient, but if years of exposure to all the environmental elements had already taken toll on it, you might need to do something. After many years of using your car, you may find that its paint has already faded and that it already has some scratches, cracks, and dents that no amount of waxing can cover. Well, there are modern auto shops that offer excellent car body repairs to restore your investment. They offer a wide array of services depending on your needs and budget.

And today, there are already a lot of techniques used in restoring vehicles. Here are some of the modern techniques in car body repairs:

100% Auto Paint Match

Whether your car needs whole body painting, spot painting for covering dents, graphics removal, or others, the new paint should match the original car paint 100%. To achieve this, photo spectrometer is used to analyze the original paint of your vehicle. Then, a computerized auto paint color match system is employed to find the true color that will match the original color of your car. After this, the painting is done carefully to achieve a seamless finish. Once the paint has dried, your car will surely look like it’s just freshly taken from a showroom.

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)

Dents are commonly caused by impacts when your vehicle comes in contact with other cars or other hard surfaces. And the problem is, dents can sometimes occur at or near the angular or curve surfaces of the car, in which case they are very noticeable and harder to repair. Today, paintless dent removal method is already in use to solve these problems. Special tools are used to press, knead, or rub down on the affected part until it is back to its normal shape. This should be done while ensuring that the paint does not get damaged. And for those dents on hard-to-reach areas such as the edge of the car’s floor, fill and spray methods are used.

Body Frame Straightening

For cars that experienced collision with another vehicle or object big enough to cause a longitudinal or lateral damage on the car’s frame, body frame straightening is required. A computerized tool is used in this process. An ultrasound technology measures the discrepancy of the frame alignment and then a laser is used to accurately align the frame back to its original shape.

SMART Repair

This is a technique used to remedy a very small damage like a chipped or scratched paint. This is quite harder because only the small affected area should be sprayed accurately. It is very useful among brand new cars in which the damage may be conspicuous since the whole body is still glossy and newly painted. Some auto shops even offer a mobile service and perform this repair right at your home or office, so you won’t be waiting for long before you can use your car. Just check online to find one near your address.

With these innovations in car body repairs, you can enjoy driving your car like brand new again. And, it will be easy to keep its value high in case you want to sell it in the future.

Galvanised sheet metal is very much undervalued by all but the experienced user. It is in fact an incredibly tough product, durable and far easier to paint than most, if not all other, sheet metal.

Treated galvanised sheet metal for example is used extensively in outdoor applications, predominantly as protection for an area from our rather unpleasant English weather.

The galvanising actually protects the steel against corrosion by creating a protective barrier.

Once treated, galvanised sheet metal, because of its relative stiffness in comparison to some of the softer metals, becomes a little more difficult to shape or work; but there is some terrific compensation in the form of greatly extended product life expectancy.

Hot dip galvanised steel sheet metal for example carries excellent resistance to corrosion and doesn’t necessarily need to be painted if you don’t want to. It can just as easily be left bare.

Here at Metaloffcuts, as specialist providers in both the domestic and commercial markets, can supply and/or cut to size galvanised sheet metal up to 2000mm x 1000mm in thicknesses from 0.8 to 3.0mm in a spangled finish. Spangle is created when molten zinc attaches itself to the steel sheet after it is cooled below the melting point of zinc.

This zinc-alloy surface is moderately rough increases its acceptance of paint. It is also very user friendly where welding may be required.

The ability of galvanised sheet metal to readily accept paint makes it a very good choice for use in the automotive industry and in the manufacture of white goods such as fridges and even microwaves.

Generally, to the unknowing, any product made with steel is thought to be quite heavy but in reality this is simply not the case.

Sheet metal is generally light, relatively easy to handle and most certainly an economical choice for many applications.

The VW W12 used to be a concept vehicle for several years until it reached full production in 2004. It is the ultimate race car from the VW Company itself which was unveiled during the 35th Motor Show in Tokyo. The car has a maximum speed of 350km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. At this rate, it is the next fastest car to Bugatti Veyron which can achieve a max speed of more than 400km/h. For you to know, Bugatti is also a sub-company of Volkswagen. Of course Veyron is far way more expensive compared to W12 but they only have a 50km/h difference in terms of maximum speed with thousands of dollars gap in their price tags. W12 is more practical to buy because the Veyron simply has way too much of everything. The W12 is also more user-friendly if you will just check its automotive repair manuals.

The Volkswagen is a lightweight sports car at 1200 kg. To power it, the W12 has a mid-mounted six liter 12 cylinder engine that produces 600 horsepower at only 7000 rpm. To prove that the given maximum speed and power of VW W12 are all accurate, a prototype was brought to a very famous race track in Nardo, Italy. Awesomely, it had set a world record for mileage achieved in 24 hours. The W12 prototype version was able to cover 7,085.7 km (4,403 miles) at a speed averaging 295.24 km/h beating the previous record with a gap of 12 km/h (7.5 mph).

The interesting features of W12 as seen in its haynes repair manuals include two wing doors that open to the front as well as a roof made of glass that extends from the windscreen above the engine compartment where the engine is located. The engine is a 12cylinder type composed of two very thin V6 four-valve engines that has a 72 degrees angle configuration. In addition, there is a joint crankshaft in the engine having seven primary bearings to create V-V arrangement. The engine weighs only 239 kg which is considerably light in its class. It is technically a two-seater coupe that has a design that resembles those of the VW top-class models in the future. The red painted VW W12 looks similar to Ferrari Enzo but it is way more advanced in all aspects of course. The interior of the vehicle is very luxurious that you can find leather seat cover, aluminium, and carbon fibre. Other stunning features are the air-conditioning system, navigation system, and on board computer and telephone that can all be adjusted and controlled through a colour display located in the centre of the dash panel.

In addition to the abovementioned characteristics, the Volkswagen W12 is also very reliable on the road because it has a state of the art safety system and excellent driving performance. However, not anyone can drive this car. In order to unleash the full potential of the car, drivers with guts are greatly needed.
